Our story
Once upon a time, on Van Horne Avenue
Scheherazade told a story every night so that dawn would never come. At Damas, chef Fuad Alnirabie does the same with Syria: each evening, a tale of Damascus and Aleppo, told through fire, spice and sharing.

- 04

The setting
A palace of a Thousand and One Nights
Red ceilings studded with lanterns, walls striped like the palaces of Damascus, mashrabiya screens, velvet, carved wood, beaded crystal chandeliers, turquoise-patterned banquettes: every room is a chapter, every corner an alcove where the evening lingers.

The art of hospitality
Hospitality, the Syrian way
- أهلاً وسهلاًAhlan wa sahlan
The welcome
You enter as you would a home in Damascus: expected, received, settled in.
- مازةMezze
The sharing
Nothing is eaten alone. Small dishes land in the middle and pass from hand to hand.
- خبزKhubz
The bread
Straight from the oven, puffed and piping hot, as much a spoon as a side.
- صحتينSahtein
The wish
Literally “two healths”: this is how Syrians wish you a good meal.

Folfol, our counter next door
At Damas, we take delivery seriously, so much so that we founded a gourmet counter just for it. Folfol serves the same dishes as the restaurant and brings them to your door.
